Saving Project Objects as Templates 

Use

If you want to use WBS elements, networks or activities (from operative projects, standard projects or simulations) as templates to create other projects, you can store them in the Templates screen area. This enables you to retrieve the data from your templates quickly.

Procedure

You can copy project objects from your currently open project as well as other project objects that have been saved in the database, to your personal templates:

You have opened a project in the Project Builder.

  1. In the structure tree, select the project object that you want to copy to the Templates.
  2. Drag and drop the object to the Templates screen area.

or

  1. In the structure tree, select the project object that you want to copy to the Templates.
  2. In the context menu, choose Copy to ® Templates.

Copying other project objects to the Templates screen area

  1. In the Templates screen select the group or the category in which you want to copy the new template.

Example: For instance if you want to store a standard WBS element as a template, select Standard templates or Standard WBS elements.

  1. In the context menu, choose Include in Templates.

A dialog box appears.

  1. Enter the necessary data.
  2. Choose .

Result

The project object appears in the corresponding category in Templates and can now be used to Create by Copying.

These templates are kept here until you remove them. To do so, choose Remove from templates or Empty templates in the context menu.

If you have not stored project data in the templates, you can access other templates by choosing Create with other template in the context menu.
