Standard Networks

Standard networks are neutral network structures that can be used as templates to create other standard networks or operative networks.

Time Saver

Creating networks from standard networks can save you time and help ensure consistency of your business processes when different projects have the same activities, for example, in the engineering phase.

Template Projects

You can link standard networks to standard work breakdown structures to create a template project which contains both the project structure and the activities assigned to the project. When you copy a standard network that is linked to a standard WBS, you create an operative WBS at the same time that you create an operative network. For information on standard work breakdown structures, refer to Standard Work Breakdown Structure (Standard WBS).

Assembly Processing

A standard network is necessary when you want use assembly processing to create an operative network from a sales order. The network that is created in the background from a sales order is always copied from the standard network to which you have allocated the material in the sales order. For more information on assembly processing, refer to LO- Assembly Processing

Milestone Functions

In addition, when you create operative networks through milestone functions, the system copies the standard network you specified in the milestone parameters. For more information on milestones, refer to Milestones.

Decentralized Planning

You can also exchange standard networks with PC software such as Microsoft® Project using the MPX interface. For more information see MPX Interface (Microsoft Project).
