The details of the consistency check depend on what options you have selected. For example, you might choose orders as the object and the plant, business area, sales organization as the fields/characteristics to be checked. When you choose this combination, the field selected are checked in the order items and the relevant billing elements. The check takes no account of the settlement rule for the billing element.

If you now choose to have the system check the settlement rule characteristics, the characteristics of the rule for the billing element are included in the consistency check.

If you want the consistency check to include a validation, you must first stipulate the conditions of the validation in the Project System IMG, in the structures section. The following conditions should apply in the validation:

• The sales group in the sales order should be the same as the profit center in the billing element.
• The check should only be made for sales orders, not for customer inquiries and quotations.
