Period-End Closing in Projects
Purpose
Period-end closing is the framework for carrying out period-related commercial transactions. You use it to ensure that all the data belonging to a period is determined and that data is available for enterprise controlling purposes.
Implementation Considerations
The functions and processes are largely the same as for overhead cost controlling. For more information, refer to the documentation for internal orders.

Revaluation at actual prices |
The system uses the planned price to value activities or business processes called in as part of project processing. The actual price is not determined until the period-end closing phase. You carry out the revaluation to determine the actual costs based on actual prices. |
Revaluation at Actual Prices |
Overhead |
So that materials, personnel, and machines are made available, the system calculates the overhead on a quantity basis or proportional to the unit costs. |

Template allocation of overhead |
While overhead is distributed flat rate, template allocation distributes overhead from business processes or cost centers/activity types. |
Template Allocation of Actuals |
Payment transfer |
The system uses this function to update payments and partial payments in Project Cash Management. |
Transferring Payments |
Interest calculation |
Valuation of funds commitments using costs, revenues, or payments, and to achieve the best possible project payment flow. |
Interest Calculation |
Results analysis |
Periodic valuation of the project result. You can use results analysis to WBS element costs which can be capitalized and set up provisions. Results analysis normally takes place in the billing element. |
Results Analysis |
Incoming order values |
The system uses this function to determine the costs and revenues expected to arise from orders closed or changed in the current period. You can evaluate the values for incoming orders and open orders in the project information system and can settle them to Profitability Analysis. |
Project-Related Incoming Orders |
Settlement |
The system settles some or all of the actual costs incurred in the project to one or more receivers. In the process, offset entries crediting the project are generated automatically. If you have already carried out results analysis, you can capitalize the costs capable of being capitalized by settling them to Financial Accounting. |

Period-end closing work is made much easier if you use the Period-End Partner (PEP).
See PEP Log.
The various period end activities can be found in the menu option Period-end closing in the Project Execution menu.
