Users and Authorizations

To ensure the integrity of the business data in the SAP System, you can create authorizations for transactions to restrict access to data. A user is then only able to log on to the system if a user master record with the corresponding password exists for that user. The user master record restricts user activities in the SAP System.

For information about the authorization concept in R/3 and how to maintain users and authorizations, see the following sections.

In addition to the authorization concept, data is also protected by other means:

See the R/3 Security Guide. It is in SAPNet under http://sapnet.sap.com/securityguide.
