SAP Retail is a fully integrated, self-contained system comprising all the functions you require to model retail business processes. SAP Retail also includes standard SAP components such as Financial Accounting, Controlling and Human Resources.

At the heart of the system is functionality specially developed for SAP Retail (IS-R). This functionality is related to the logistics components Material Management (MM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Logistics General (LO) and Logistics Execution (LE). Links can also be created to new dimension systems, such as SAP BW and SAP APO.

This documentation describes the SAP Retail functions developed specifically for retailing. Many topics do, however, contain references to additional information in other areas of the SAP Library. These references point you to the relevant part of the documentation.

If your enterprise also has manufacturing activities, you can also use standard SAP functions that have been developed not only for SAP Retail (for more information about this, see Usability of Standard R/3 Functions in SAP Retail). In this case, you can reach the documentation for these areas by choosing Help ® SAP Library.

If you follow a link to another part of the SAP Library, the text that appears has a different structure to this documentation. Also, the terminology used is standard SAP terminology which is not specific to your SAP Retail system.
