S_TABU_CLI Maintain cross-client tables

Definition

Authorization for maintaining client-independent tables with the standard table maintenance (SE31), enhanced table maintenance (SM30) and Data Browser, also in the customizing system.

This object is used in client-independent tables as additional security and thus complements the general table maintenance authorization, S_TABU_DIS.

Background

In the Customizing area, each client normally has their own table environment for maintaining Customizing parameters. The table layout of Customizing tables allows two different clients to have and maintain their own data without disturbing the other client. However, this is not the case for client-independent tables since their content is available to all clients.

For this reason, we recommend giving these tables a special authorization, only given to well-trained people responsible for maintenance so as to guard against unintended side effects in a multi-client system. There are very few client-independent tables in the Customizing area. Nonetheless, providing additional security in productive systems is definitely recommended.

Defined Fields

The authorization object consists of the field ID Client-independent maintenance. Possible value: X. User is authorized to maintain client-independent tables.
