In order for you to visualize your products within the area of PDM SAP has included a viewer from Engineering Animation, Inc. (EAI) as part of the standard SAP Graphical User Interface (SAP GUI).
This integrated viewer as well as other visualization programs can only display product information in particular file formats. For this reson it is necessary to convert the source file into a format that can be displayed by the viewer.
In the standard SAP System, the conversion of original application files of a document info record is controlled by a conversion interface. You can also set at which processing status a conversion is to be automatically carried out. A conversion specification summarizes all inforamtion in regards to conversions.
