When working with the SAP FIORI Apps for Material Requirements Planning, the SAP HANA database is mandatory. This means that materials that require the processing of features not supported by SAP HANA should not be displayed in the apps.

Restrictions

The following features are not supported by SAP HANA:

  • BAdIs not supported

Materials that require the processing of a BAdI for the evaluation of the planning situation are not displayed in the MRP apps and have to be monitored in the classic transactions.

  • Production Version with Distribution Key

If a distribution key has been maintained in the production version for a material, this material should not be displayed in the apps for Material Requirements Planning.

  • Component Requirements with Distribution Key

If a distribution key exists for component requirements, this material should not be displayed in the apps for Material Requirements Planning. The distribution key is defined in the bill of materials of the components and is then copied to the dependent requirements or the reservations for production.

  • Total Requirements not Supported

Total customer requirements and total dependent requirements were used for performance reasons which is not necessary when working with SAP HANA. Before working with the MRP apps, make sure you have no total requirements in your system.

  • Forecast Requirements

Materials with forecast requirements should not be displayed in the apps for Material Requirements Planning in the following cases:

    • If the reduction of the forecast requirements is calculated using consumption values. (However, note that reduction by average value is supported.)

    • If the distribution of forecast requirements is performed using a splitting indicator.

  • Subcontracting without MRP Area

Materials for which subcontracting without MRP areas has been defined should not be displayed in the MRP apps as this feature is not supported by SAP HANA. To include these materials in the apps, proceed as follows:

    • Activate subcontractor MRP areas by creating an MRP area of the type Subcontractor for every subcontractor.

    • Define a material master view for the corresponding subcontracting MRP area in the MRP 1 view.

  • Subdaily Safety Time in Safety Profile

Materials for which a subdaily safety time exists in the safety profile should not be displayed in the MRP apps.

  • Planning Segments Other than the Net Requirements Segment

The current version of the MRP apps only supports net requirements segments and no other planning segments such as make-to-order, make-to-project, or storage location segments. Those planning segments are not displayed in the MRP apps.

Report: Check Area of Responsibility for MRP Apps

You can use the report PPH_CHECK_AOR in the back-end system to check all the materials within your area of responsibility regarding the compatibility with MRP apps. In this report, you can select the Check Feature Compatibility option to check the material settings and business documents for features that are not available in the context of the MRP apps. Please note, however, that the report cannot check the use of BAdIs. You can also select the Check Planning Segments option to determine all planning segments.

All materials that are found in either option have to be evaluated using the classic MRP transactions such as the Stock/Requirements List (MD04).

Transaction: MD_MRP_FORCE_CLASSIC

You can use this transaction in the back-end system to determine whether a material is displayed in the apps for MRP. This information is automatically checked by the system the first time you access the apps and is saved in the field Material Displayed in the MRP Apps. In this transaction, you can rerun the check by the system or you can also overrule the results of the automatic check manually, if necessary.
