 Recipe Change Simulation

The analytical app enables you to simulate modifying, changing, or removing one or more ingredients in all recipes of a worklist. You can define and run multiple simulations for each worklist. The simulations' results show you a detailed analysis of the changes' impact on the recipes' composition and nutrient concentration, and the list of recipes that are indirectly affected.

Key Features

  • Manage worklists

    • Edit, create, duplicate, or delete worklists

    • View the content of the worklists

    • See the details of the recipes on the worklists

    • View the previous simulation attempts

    • Select the worklist on which you want to run a simulation

  • Define simulation

    • Create, edit, or delete simulations

    • Define one or several rules per simulation

    • Create simulation rule

      • Select what ingredient you want to remove and how much percent of it

      • Select one or more ingredients you want to put in instead and how much percent of them

      Note Note

To keep the unchanged ingredients' concentration constant, the system only allows modifications that does not change the overall mass of the recipe.

      End of the note.

      Example Example

You have a recipe with the following composition: 690g water, 300g sugar, 9.5g citric acid, and 0.5g strawberry aroma

You want to exchange the sugar to xylit, but you know from a user research that xylit is twice as sweet as sugar, so you have to use only 150g.

If you exchange 300g sugar to 150g xylit, the overall mass of the recipe would decrease by 15%, and the concentration of the strawberry aroma would increase from 0.05% to 0.0588%, which is a 17.6% increase. This might cause the recipe to no longer comply with regulations.

The system will only accept the new simulation rule if you substitute the missing 150g sugar with something else – for example in this case 150g water.

      End of the example.
    • Edit, or delete existing simulation rules

  • Simulation result overview

    • See a detailed overview of the ingredient quantities. The app provides information in the following dimensions:

      • Before and After quantities

Before values indicate the original, After values indicate the simulated quantities.

      • Delta and absolute quantities

Absolute values indicate the actual ingredient quantities, delta values indicate the difference between the original and the simulated quantities, in percent.

      • Direct and Total ingredient quantities

        Example Example

Recipe_A contains Ingredient_C and Recipe_B as an ingredient. Recipe_B also contains Ingredient_C. If you simulate the change of Ingredient_C, the app displays a total and a direct quantity change in the simulation overview for Recipe_A.

The total quantity indicates the simulated changes of Ingredient_C from both Recipe_A and Recipe_B, while the direct quantity indicates the simulated change of Ingredient_C from only Recipe_A.

        End of the example.

The app shows ingredient quantity information in all possible combination of these dimensions

      • (original) Direct Quantity and (original) Total Quantity

      • Simulated Total Quantity and Simulated Direct Quantity (absolute quantities)

      • Direct Delta Quantity and Direct Total Quantity

    • Export the data to Excel

  • Simulation result details

    • Ingredient Calculation – Before and After values

    • Standard Composition Calculation – Before and After values

    • Nutrient Calculation – Before and After values, relative delta values, total solids calculation, process and storage loss calculations

Navigation Targets

The app offers the possibility to directly access other apps.

Note Note

These linked apps have to be already available in your system landscape or you have to implement them along with this app.

End of the note.
  • Recipe Finder

You can create and edit recipe worklists using a wide variety of search and filtering options.

System Landscape Requirements

The app consists of front-end components and back-end components. The back-end components and the front-end components are delivered in separate products and have to be installed in a system landscape that is enabled for SAP Fiori.
