If you want to enhance existing Master Data Governance Content, this documentation provides an overview of the individual steps, which contain additional information to that provided in the Implementation Guide (IMG).

Note Note

You configure the settings in Customizing for Master Data Governance under Start of the navigation path General Settings End of the navigation path. The paths specified below are for Customizing for Master Data Governance and, unless otherwise specified, are relative paths under General Settings.

Process

  1. Defining a governance scope to suit your business processes

    For more information, see Defining a Governance Scope.

  2. Adjusting the data model

    You can customize the data model by:

    If you have implemented SAP enhancement package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0 and are using a standard data model, note also the following information:

  3. Activating the data model

    You have to activate any data models that you want to use. You activate a data model under Start of the navigation path Data Modeling Next navigation step Edit Data Model End of the navigation path. Afterwards, check and modify the additional Customizing settings.

  4. Defining authorization-relevant fields

    Edit the Customizing activity Start of the navigation path Data Modeling Next navigation step Define Authorization Relevance per Entity Type End of the navigation path.

  5. Adjusting the UI configuration

    Take into account any new entity types or attributes in the UI configuration. For more information, see Managing of UI Configurations.

  6. Assigning and personalizing the role

    • On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step User Maintenance Next navigation step Role Administration Next navigation step PFCG - Roles End of the navigation path. Edit the personalization key SAP Master Data Governance (R_FMDM_MODEL) on the Personalization tab page: Determine a standard data model and a UI configuration; and, if applicable, the default values for the edition, change request type and entity type.

    • On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Administration Next navigation step User Maintenance Next navigation step SU01 - Users End of the navigation path. On the Personalization tab page, check whether you need to adjust the Personalization Key SAP Master Data Governance (R_FMDM_MODEL) for the role or roles that you assigned to the users for Master Data Governance.

  7. Defining the validation rules

    Edit the Customizing activity Start of the navigation path Data Quality and Search Next navigation step Define Validation and Derivation Rules End of the navigation path. For more information, see Defining Validations.

  8. Configuring settings for the change process

    Edit the following Customizing activities:

More Information

Creation of New Content for Master Data Governance

Enhancing an existing data model requires minimal effort. However, if you want to incorporate significant master data changes into the data model, for example, creating a totally new data model may be the more suitable option.
