Management Summary

The Business Package for Maintenance Worker provides a standardized Web-based user interface (UI) for the daily tasks of a maintenance worker. The maintenance worker has access to all the information relevant to his or her work, and can confirm work completed.

You can use the Web Dynpro applications available with this business package with the following UI clients:

  • SAP NetWeaver® Portal (with portal role)

  • NetWeaver Business Client for HTML (with PFCG role)

  • NetWeaver Business Client (with portal role and PFCG role)

Business Value

This business package is aimed at maintenance workers. It makes their daily work easier by simplifying the processing of planned and unplanned maintenance work and providing them with easier access to master data.

Overview
  • The Overview workset

The overview enables the maintenance worker to access the job list, confirmation list, information center, and useful links. For more information, see Workset: Overview.

  • The Job List workset

In the job list, maintenance workers can display a list of the jobs for which they are responsible. They can display the job card for the job, display additional information, or start processing the job. The person responsible for an area can display all the jobs to be performed in his or her team, and can distribute these jobs to the available employees.

For more information, see Workset: Job List.

  • The Confirmation workset

When they have completed a job, maintenance workers can confirm the time spent and material used, and enter counter readings if required. If further jobs arise from the processing of jobs, they can create a notification for these directly. Maintenance workers can also confirm unplanned jobs.

For more information, see Workset: Confirmation.

  • The Information Center workset

The information center is a central point of access for all asset-related information. Here, you can display your list of favorites and the objects that you last accessed. With the embedded search, you can find objects easily, even when a problem is reported where the full name of the affected object is not known - not only when the exact object name is known. Additional information about the affected object may help initial clarification, such as the assigned measuring points and counters, the display of objects in the Asset Viewer, or the existing notifications and orders for the object.

For more information, see Workset: Information Center.

The Additional Services list of this business package contains links to further applications that maintenance workers can use in their daily work, such as display, create, and change notifications, display technical objects, display measurement documents, and display measuring points. Some of these applications can also be called from other applications, for example, from the job list or the Asset Viewer. You can use the Useful Links list to insert links that you find useful, such as a link to the Help Portal or the solution database.

The following functions are also integrated into the business package to further support users during their work

  • Worker Safety

A number of functions for ensuring the safe execution of maintenance work are available in the applications of this business package. The job card contains information from the safety plan of the reference document. Users can also transparently identify safety information, such as assigned safety measures, in the applications for orders, task lists, and technical objects. It is possible to integrate an external risk management system, such as SAP BusinessObjects Risk Management, and in this way have information about risks and risk responses available as well.

For more information about the integration of SAP BusinessObjects Risk Management into this business package, see SAP BusinessObjects Risk Management Integration in the Business Package for Generic EAM Functions.

  • Work Clearance Management (WCM)

WCM is recommended for ensuring a safe working environment in industries that are subject to specific safety regulations, for example, the oil and gas industry. This business package supports the integration of WCM work permits into the execution of safety-critical maintenance processes.

For more information about WCM integration into this business package, see Work Clearance Management (WCM) Integration in the Business Package for Generic EAM Functions.

  • Business Context Viewer (BCV)

BCV is a framework for integrating additional business content and analytical information. Predefined business content is available for Plant Maintenance (PM). BCV is licensed as part of the SAP Collaborative Product Development license. You need this license in order to use BCV content with this business package.

For more information, see Business Context Viewer Integration.
