Use

BI search connectors are based on BI queries. These can be called across different systems (see Search Connector).

Note

The quality of the data delivered from BI to Business Context Viewer (BCV) depends on the characteristics defined in the BI query.

If you do not use all characteristics of the BI InfoCube in your BI query, the system performs an aggregation of characteristics in BI.

Prerequisites

You can define new BI search connectors if the following applies:

  • You have defined BI queries.

  • You have released the BI queries for use as data providers in the SAP NetWeaver Business Explorer Query Designer under Start of the navigation path Query Next navigation step Properties Next navigation step Extended End of the navigation path. To access the BCV query from the MDX interface, select the Allow External Access to this Query By OLE DB for OLAP checkbox. To access the BCV query from the easy query interface, select the Allow External Access to this Query By Easy Query checkbox.

  • You have configured the RFC destinations for the systems to be called.

  • You have assigned the previously created RFC connection to the new logical system.

  • To use the easy query interface, you must activate the FND, Business Context Viewer Easy Query (/BCV/EASY_QUERY) business function. The easy query interface is only available as of SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse 7.3 Enhancement Package 1 SP03 or higher.
