Use

You use these functions to process update data in the update determination table. In the update determination table you assign a sales area and a requesting sales organization to different combinations of request or confirmation data.

The update determination table has the following purposes:

To assign a sales area when incomplete request data is issued

If requests contain incomplete request data, the system can automatically assign the sales area required for the update and a requesting sales organization.

To assign a sales area when incomplete confirmation data is issued

If confirmations contain incomplete confirmation data, the system can automatically assign the sales area required for the update and a requesting sales organization.

If incomplete entries are made, the system automatically looks for the assigned sales area in the update determination table. Assignments in the update determination table allow the system to complete incomplete requests or confirmations with data from the update determination table and then to update it.

To search, the system proceeds according to the following logic:

The system starts by determining the assigned sales area at the level of the sales organization, the wholesaler number, the object number, the customer number, the material number.

If the system does not find a sales area under the determined key combination, it searches without material number (shortened key). If the search does not yield a result, the system searches without customer number, and so on. If the system does not find an assignment, it issues an error message.

In mass data processing, the greater the dataset, the longer it takes to access the database and the slower the program becomes. To optimize access times to the database, the information given in sales reports should be as complete as possible so that the system only has to search for a small amount of information in the update determination table.

Specifying the sales organization is sufficient for the system to determine where it has to update the sales of a particular material, even if the relevant sales report does not contain this information. In this case, the system assigns the sales area automatically.

The prerequisites for processing update data are as follows:

You have entered the necessary master data (wholesaler/customer, object, material) in the system.

You have maintained request and item data.

Example

Wholesaler 493 supplies object 491 from customer 492 with the materials Beer barrel MA0001, MA0002, MA0003, MA0004, MA0005 and MA0006 .

In the update determination table, combined update data is assigned to a sales area as follows:

Single keys (only wholesalers)

Several keys (wholesaler and customer, wholesaler and object)

All keys (wholesaler, object, customer, material)
