 Evaluating a Succession Plan

Prerequisites

You must already have performed a succession planning scenario . You must be on the Succession Planning screen, and the career plan or ranking list must be on display.

Displaying the Planning Object’s Profile

To display the planning object’s profile, position the cursor in the header data area of the succession plan, and choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Profile End of the navigation path .

The <Object type>: Display Profile <Data selection period> screen appears. The profile is displayed on this screen.

Displaying the Profile of an Object in the Succession Plan

To display the profile of an object in the succession plan, position the cursor on the object in question, and choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Profile. End of the navigation path

The <Object type>: Display Profile <Data selection period> screen appears. The profile is displayed on this screen.

Performing Profile Matchups

To match up the qualifications of the planning object with the requirements of an object in the succession plan, position the cursor on the entry in question, and choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Profile matchup. End of the navigation path

The Profile Matchup screen appears. The system displays the qualifications and requirements. Essential requirements and alternative qualifications are flagged as such.

Matching Up the Profiles of All the Objects in the Ranking List

Prerequisite: You must be on the Succession Planning screen, and the ranking list must be on display.

Choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Profile matchup (all). End of the navigation path

The Profile Matchup screen appears. The system displays the qualifications and requirements of all the objects in the ranking list.

Displaying Qualification Deficits

Prerequisite: You must have performed a profile matchup, and be on the Profile Matchup screen.

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step Editing options. End of the navigation path

  2. The Editing Options dialog box appears.

  3. Select the Qualification deficits only field .

  4. Choose Transfer.

This takes you back to the Profile Matchup screen again. The system displays only qualifications and requirements for which qualification deficits exist.

Displaying a Training Proposal

Prerequisites:

  1. Perform a profile matchup as described above.

  2. If a qualification does not meet a requirement and there is a training course (business event) or development plan that would impart the missing qualification, the system displays the Training proposal icon and the name of the business event or development plan.

  3. To book the person on the business event in question, or to edit the development plan, choose Start of the navigation path Edit Next navigation step Further training. End of the navigation path

Displaying a Career

Position the cursor on the career you want to display, and choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step Career End of the navigation path .

SAP Network Graphics starts, and the career is displayed on the Display Career Items screen.

Creating a Designation for a Position or Job

Position the cursor on the planning object for which you want to create a designation, and choose Start of the navigation path Planning Next navigation step Create Next navigation step Designation. End of the navigation path

The position or job is designated for the object selected.

Creating Preferences and Potentials

Select the planning object to which you want to assign a preference or potential for the position, and choose Start of the navigation path Planning Next navigation step Create Next navigation step Preference End of the navigation path or Potential .

The position is recorded in the corresponding subprofile(s) of the object.

Transferring a Person to a Position

  1. Position the cursor on the person that you want to transfer to the position.

  2. Choose Start of the navigation path Planning Next navigation step Transferral. End of the navigation path

  3. The Assign Holder screen appears.

  4. If necessary, change the staffing percentage and the relationship period .

  5. Save your entries.

You have transferred the person to the position for the specified period.
