Free Goods in the Outbound Delivery

Use

In many sectors of industry it is common to provide products free of charge, or not to charge the customer for some of the goods sold when certain goods are purchased.

Free goods processing is supported in the sales order for direct sales. When you enter the sales order, the free goods items are automatically created in accordance with the existing agreement (see also Maintain Free Goods ) and automatically copied into the outbound delivery as delivery-relevant. In the outbound delivery, the system no longer determines free goods on its own.

For further information on transfer of requirements, see Requirements in Sales and Distribution Processing .

Note Note

The free goods function is currently not supported for deliveries without reference to a sales order.

End of the note.

Features

In the free-goods record, you can store the following conditions for delivery of free goods using the field Delivery control :

  • independently of the main item

Free goods are processed fully independently.

  • only if the main item has been partially delivered

The free goods are delivered only if at least part of the required sales material will, or has already been, delivered.

  • Only if the main item is partially delivered and the free goods are contained in the same delivery.

Free goods are only delivered if at least part of the material sold is delivered or has already been delivered and if the material sold is in the current delivery. This is because part of the delivery might only be due later on. In this case, the free goods should only be granted when the sales material is delivered, rather than appearing in the delivery without the material it applies to. Otherwise, the customer may not understand the connection between the material ordered and the free goods material.

  • only if the main item has been partially delivered

The free goods are delivered only if at least part of the required sales material will, or has already been, delivered.

  • as a proportionate quantity of the delivered quantity in relation to the required quantity in the main item

The free goods are supplied as a proportionate quantity in relation to the delivered quantity of the order item.

If the main item has been delivered completely, the entire available quantity of free goods is delivered as well.
