HR managers and other authorized persons can use this application to check and approve leave requests. This application uses a personal object worklist (POWL)-based leave request approval.
Caution
This application is part of Manager Self-Service
as it uses the same functions as the Leave Request
application in Employee Self-Service
, and cannot be implemented on its own. However, it has been developed
for use in Manager Self-Service
.
For more information about all the functions, see Leave Request.
You can use the Leave Requests: Approve Documents
(RPTARQAPP) report or the Leave Request: Mass Approval
(RPTARQMASS_APPROVAL) report in the back-end system as an alternative to this application. These reports enable you
to approve multiple leave requests in batch.
In the standard system, there is no direct link to this application. Approvers use this application only if existing leave requests are awaiting approval. The most efficient way to approve these leave requests is by using work items in the POWL. In the standard system, therefore,
this service can be accessed from the POWL only, provided you have implemented SAP Business Workflow
.
If you do not want to implement SAP Business Workflow
, you can include in system administration a separate link to the
service in the Manager Portal. To do this, you should use the Leave Requests: Send E-Mails
(RPTARQEMAIL) report to inform the approver that there are existing leave requests awaiting approval.
You can also call this application using object-based navigation approveleaverequest
in the employee
business object.

You use SAP Time Management
to manage your employees’ time data.
You use the Create Leave Request Web Dynpro application.
You have made the Customizing settings for the Leave Request, Time Accounts,
and Team Calendar
applications. For more information, see Customizing for Personnel Management
under .
The POWL provides an approver with a list of all the absences they must accept or reject, which they can do when they select an absence. In the case of multiple approvals for a leave request, approvers can approve or reject a request in a pre-defined sequence.
A manager can use the following functions to enable them to approve a leave request:
The Team Calendar
application — to check if an employee's absence would create a bottleneck in their team.
This function also exists as a standalone application in Manager Self-Service
. For more information,
see Team Calendar.
The Time Account
application — for an overview of an employee's leave entitlements and attendance approvals.
This function also exists as a standalone application, View
Time Account Balances in Employee Self-Service (Web Dynpro ABAP)
. For information about the data sources and possible settings for this function, see Data Origin of Time Accounts and
the Customizing for Personnel Management
under .
An approver can track the changes an employee makes to an absence.
An approver can enter a note stating the reason for approving or rejecting a request.
