Display of Reports Without Local WWI Installation

Use

You can also display WWI reports in the function Report from Template , in report management , and in the report information system without having WWI installed locally on your front-end PC. Instead of generating the reports on your front-end PC, the reports are generated on a generation server with which you are linked via RFC.

Local WWI installations are not required for this; instead you only need to configure WWI on the WWI server. This method also helps you to avoid inconsistent results caused by differently configured front-end installations.

Note Note

To create WWI report templates and to display labels in Product Safety, you still require a local installation on the respective front-end PC.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

  • You have processed the IMG activity Set Up Generation Server for Report Display in SAP GUI for HTML in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools .

Here, specify the RFC destination of the synchronous generation server in the environment parameter WWI_GENSERVER_SYN_DEST.

    Note Note

For performance reasons, SAP recommends that you do not use any of the destinations that are entered in the IMG activity Specify Generation Servers .

    End of the note.
  • The user parameter ESWWI_INST has the value WWISERVER .

If the value is set in the user parameter, it overrides the entries in the environment parameter WWI_INSTALLATION.

If the value in the user parameter is initial, it takes the value from the environment parameter WWI_INSTALLATION for the first generation process and must then be adapted.

Features

When the report generation process is triggered, the report is generated on the synchronous WWI server and returned to the SAP system via RFC. The SAP system loads the report into the Temp directory of the front-end PC.

The report is displayed according to the file format set in the environment parameter WWI_GENSERVER_SYN_WEB_APPL.
