Object documentationLabel

A label on which data in the SAP Environment, Health and Safety component (EHS) and other SAP components can be printed.

As with reports, labels can consist of a number of text boxes that can be output in more than one language for data with reference to specifications. You can also create labels without reference to a specification.

Note Note

You can assign a report template that contains no specification symbols to any report category (for example, material safety data sheet or label) using the generation variant. The label represents one example for reports with or without a reference to a specification.

End of the note.

  • Multilingual capability

With the help of Environment, Health and Safety, you can output data for value assignment types in multiple languages. For this purpose, you use a repeating group of the type Validity area and language (see Repeating Group Types and Example: Repeating Group of Type G). All languages that are based on a single-byte character set are supported (see Determining Fonts).

  • Predefined label sizes

Using the Label Wizard, you can define labels of various sizes (see Using the WWI Label Wizard). If you have created a report template with the Wizard and call up the label from report management or the report information system, the SAP system loads the labeling tool. The labeling tool provides different standard sizes for display and printing purposes. In addition, you can define your own formats with the help of the labeling tool (see Using the Labeling Tool).

    Note Note

Labels for which the labeling tool is loaded cannot be exported, sent, or printed via the SAP spool system.

If you have not used the Label Wizard, Microsoft Word is opened for editing the label template.

    End of the note.
  • Functions of Microsoft Word

You can use Microsoft Word functions, for example, to define text boxes and tables on the label template. The character sizing function of Windows Wordprocessor Integration (WWI) ensures that the font size is adjusted to optimally fit the text area. Using the functions in Microsoft Word, you can also define frames and create colored printouts.

  • Distributed printing

Printer selection allows you to print out labels at different sites.

  • Labels without reference to a specification

Report templates that contain no specification symbols are available in the report information system after they are assigned to a report generation variant. The reports are treated as released reports, independent of which initial status was defined for the generation variant (see Search and Data Output in the Report Information System and Using the Report Information System).

  • Labels with reference to a specification

You generate labels that contain specification symbols from the specification management hit list and release them in report management (see Report Editing).

Integration

You can use label templates that you have created using the Label Wizard, in Global Label Management (see Global Label Management (EHS-SAF-GLM)).
