Notes on the Integrating of Business PartnersLocate this document in the navigation structure

In some SAP applications, the user master record (user account) only plays a minor role from the business process point of view. The focus is placed instead on the business partner to whom the user account is assigned. When you use such business partner data, there are a few restrictions regarding the integration with SAP Identity Management that are set out below:

  • For external business partner objects (for instance, a contact person of a customer or supplier) that you have created in an SAP application, you can request a user using SAP Identity Management. SAP Identity Management creates one identity for this, and for the given configuration returns a user account to the application. However, SAP Identity Management does not distribute this identity to other SAP applications.

  • Time-dependent changes to business partner data in an SAP application can only be transferred to SAP Identity Management on the key date.

  • Changes to business partner data in an SAP application are only transferred to SAP Identity Management if a user account already exists for this business partner in the SAP application.

  • When you make changes in SAP Identity Management to the data of an identity that represents a business partner, only the user account of this business partner is updated in the SAP application, and not the business partner object itself.
