 Processing of Methods

In connection with the EH&S-QM interface, it is important that you distinguish between methods as class characteristics in specification management and inspection methods in the SAP Quality Management (QM) component:

  • Method as a class characteristic

Characteristic that was defined in the classification system as a method.

  • Inspection method

Describes the procedure for how a characteristic is to be inspected.

From the method entered in a value assignment type, the EH&S-QM interface transfers an inspection method to the inspection plan when it creates the inspection plan. Quality inspections can then be executed as usual in Quality Management using this inspection method.

Procedure

You have two options for transferring inspection methods to an inspection plan:

  • Specify a phrase as the value of the Method class characteristic for a value assignment type in specification management .

As methods have to be stored as phrases, you must also assign an inspection method from Quality Management to the phrase in the header data in phrase management .

The key for an inspection method is made up from the plant, description of the inspection method, and version. As the version valid at the time the plan is created is always used, you do not need to specify a version.

  • Specify an inspection method directly from Quality Management as the value of the class characteristic Method for a value assignment type in specification management .

This method is recognized and transferred automatically by the interface.

    Note Note

To be able to access QM inspection methods directly as input help at this point, you must integrate the function module EHQM15_INSP_METHOD_CHECK. This function module must be specified in the classification system for each characteristic in which the inspection methods are to be entered. For more information on processing characteristics in the classification system, see Value Assignment Types and Characteristics Setup .

    End of the note.
