Function documentationDefinition of Layouts with Characteristics

You can influence how characteristics are displayed in list editing. If you do not want them to be displayed according to the standard layout, you can change the standard layout and create user-specific layouts.

Prerequisites

You have activated the business function Enterprise Asset Management Part 6 (LOG_EAM_CI_6) and, if required, the Customizing parameter Displaying Characteristics in Additional PM Lists (PM117_ADD). For more information about the prerequisites, see Enhanced List Editing with Characteristics.

Features

Defining a user-specific layout

Once you have selected objects in the list, chosen Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step Show/Hide Classification End of the navigation path, and selected one or more classes, you can choose the Layout for Characteristics pushbutton to change the standard layout and define user-specific layouts.

If you select the Change and Save Layout radio button, the system shows you all the characteristics that are assigned to the selected classes. You can specify which characteristics of these classes you want the system to display in the list. A maximum of 20 characteristics can be displayed.

Saving a user-specific layout

You can create user-specific layouts for one or more classes:

  • Creating a user-specific layout for one class

You can save your selection of characteristics that you want displayed for a specific class as a user-specific layout.

    • The system proposes a name with the naming convention Zinternal class number for the user-specific layout. If you save your layout with the name proposed by the system, the system uses this layout for displaying the characteristics of the selected class.

    • If you save your layout with a different name, the system uses the standard layout for displaying the characteristics of the selected class.

    • If you define and save more than one user layout for a class, you can select one by choosing the option Choose Layout or save one of the class-specific layouts as the default layout by choosing Manage Layout.

  • Creating a user-specific layout for several classes

If you define and save a user-specific layout for a combination of several classes, the system does not automatically use this layout for displaying the characteristics of these classes.

If you choose the Layout for Characteristics pushbutton, you have the following options:

    • By choosing Choose Layout, you can display the characteristics using the layout you defined for the classes.

    • By choosing Manage Layout, you can save your layout as the default setting. The system then always displays characteristics in the list according to this user-specific layout, regardless of which classes you select.

      Note Note

If you group a selection of characteristics in a layout defined for several classes and save this layout as the default setting, the system only displays the characteristics that you selected. If you select classes in list editing whose characteristics do not match the characteristics in your layout, the system does not display any characteristics. By choosing Layout for Characteristics, you can manually display the characteristics of the classes you selected.

      End of the note.
