Required Manual Periodic Tasks

When running Search and Operational Analytics, you should perform the following tasks regularly:

• Check the status of the connectors in the administration cockpit regularly, for example daily. This task does not affect system availability.

• Delete at regular intervals any log files that are no longer required:

  1. Log on to your ABAP system as the Search_Admin user.

  2. Start transaction SLG2.

  3. Enter ES in the Object field.

  4. In the Subobjects field, select INDEXING, MONITORING, or OBJECT_MODEL, depending on the log types you want to display.

  5. Select whether you want to delete the logs by expiry date or by specifying general selection conditions.

  6. Select one of the deletion options:

     Only calculate number	The system only calculates the number of logs that can be deleted. The data is not read in from the database.
     Generate list	The system creates a list of all logs that can be deleted. You can then decide which of the logs in the list you want to delete.
     Delete immediately	The system deletes all logs from the database that satisfy the selection criteria.

  7. You can specify a date range for the logs to be deleted at the bottom of the screen.

  8. Choose Execute.
