 Syntactical Character Set

Definition

A set of characters that are identical in all code pages used in the SAP System and in all code pages based on ASCII character sets.

Use

Texts that are made up exclusively of characters from the syntactical character set always look uniform and correct, regardless of the code page that was used to enter or output them.

Structure

The syntactical character set is made up of 7-bit ASCII characters without control characters and contains the following characters:

  • A B C ... Z

  • a b c ... z

  • 0 1 2 ... 9

  • " % & ' ( ) * + , - . / : ; < = > ? !
