You can use this function to copy assessments that a manager makes regarding the competencies of an employee to the employee's qualifications profile.

The Employees' Qualifications query (0TMC_MP03_Q0001) displays only the qualifications that are stored in the employees' qualifications profile. If you want to use this query to evaluate competencies, ensure that they are transferred to the qualifications profile.

Prerequisites

You have created an appraisal template for competency assessments by selecting the Transfer Competencies to Qualifications Profile checkbox. You have made all other required settings for this appraisal template. To do so, in Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, you perform the Customizing activities under Start of the navigation path Talent Assessment End of the navigation path.

If you have already used an appraisal template for competency assessments, you must delimit the process period with the previously used appraisal template and create a new process period with the new appraisal template. To do so, choose Start of the navigation path Talent Assessment Next navigation step Define Process Periods and Groupings End of the navigation path.

Standard Functions
  • The system transfers the competency assessments to an employee's qualifications profile as soon as the manager closes the appraisal document.

    The appraisal document must be based on a form in which the Transfer Competencies to Qualifications Profile checkbox is selected (see “Prerequisites”).

  • To transfer competency assessments to the qualifications profile, the system uses the Follow-Up (Background) – Transfer Competencies implementation (HRTMC_TRANSFER_COMP) of the Business Add-In (BAdI) Appraisal Document – Follow-Up Processing (Background) (HRHAP00_FOLLOW_UP).

  • On the user interface (for example, in the overview of an employee's detailed talent profile), the system displays the competency assessments that the manager has stored in the appraisal document.

    Example Example

    A manager has assessed the Command of English competency of an employee as Good. This assessment is transferred to the employee's qualifications profile.

    Then, in Employee Self-Service, the employee valuates his or her command of English as Very Good.

    In the standard SAP system, the overview of the detailed talent profile displays the manager's assessment (Good).

Optional Functions
  • You can create a customer implementation of the BAdI HRHAP00_FOLLOW_UP.

    In Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, under Start of the navigation path Talent Assessment Next navigation step Make Further Settings for Talent Assessment End of the navigation path, you define the filter value of your customer BAdI implementation as the value of the COMPETENCY_FOLLOW_UP parameter.

    Note Note

    The system uses the same BAdI implementation for all appraisal documents for competency assessments. You cannot specify different processing for individual appraisal documents.

  • You can specify that the user interface displays the competency assessments from the qualifications profile instead of from the appraisal document.

    To do so, in Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, under Start of the navigation path Talent Assessment Next navigation step Make Further Settings for Talent Assessment End of the navigation path, set parameter READ_COMPS_FROM_SKILLPROFILE to X.

    Example Example

    In the example mentioned above, in the overview of the detailed talent profile, the system displays the employee's assessment (Very Good) if you set parameter READ_COMPS_FROM_SKILLPROFILE to X.

  • You can transfer existing competency assessments to the qualifications profile retroactively.

    This is useful if the managers have already made competency assessments based on a template for which it was not yet possible to transfer to the qualifications profile. These competency assessments are stored exclusively in the appraisal document and not in the qualifications profile.

    To transfer the data retroactively, you use the report Transfer Competency Assessments to Qualifications Profile (RPTMC_COMPETENCY_FOLLOW_UP). For the report, see Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development and choose Start of the navigation path Talent Assessment Next navigation step Retroactively Transfer Competencies to Qualifications Profile End of the navigation path.

    Report RPTMC_COMPETENCY_FOLLOW_UP also uses the implementation of the BAdI HRHAP00_FOLLOW_UP, which is stated as the value of parameter COMPETENCY_FOLLOW_UP in Customizing under Make Further Settings for Talent Assessment.
