Using the following procedure ensures that language-dependent data is stored on the database in an SAP System without Unicode character sets correctly in the format of the SAP(ISO) code pages used in this system.

Prerequisites

See EH&S Native Language Support and the section Entering and Outputting Data in the SAP System in Conversions in Accordance with the SAP Standard .

You must always perform the following steps if you want to enter language-dependent data in a language that cannot be represented using the code page on your application server that is currently active or using the locale on your front end that is currently active.

Procedure

Switch the locale on your front end to the language you require. For more information, see the documentation for the operating system of your front end.

If Microsoft Windows NT is the front-end operating system you must also switch the NT locale (language and country setting) to the language you require, select the locale as the System default locale and restart the system.

In the SAP logon dialog box, choose Properties → Advanced and check that the correct four-digit number of the SAP(front-end) code page is specified in the Codepage no field.

We recommend that you create a separate entry in the SAP logon dialog box for each SAP(front-end) code page you require.

Log on to the SAP System. When doing so choose the following logon language:

If the language in which you want to enter data is complete in the SAP System, or filled using a supplementation language, choose this language.

If the language in which you want to enter data is not complete even if a supplementation language is used, then choose another language from the same code page that is complete in the SAP System or filled using a supplementation language. This language must also be able to be displayed by the locale of your front end.

Enter the data in the required language:

In the language key field, choose the language key for the language.

Enter the required data in the corresponding field.

You can enter language-dependent EH&S data in other languages without repeating steps 1 to 3 if both the following statements are true:

The locale of your front end and the appropriate SAP (front-end) code page that is set up in the SAP logon dialog box enable you to enter data in the other languages.

The other languages can be displayed using the same SAP(ISO) code page as the logon language. For logon languages that can be displayed using several code pages, the other languages must be able to be displayed using the default code page of the logon language.

If you have logged on to the SAP System in Hungarian, SAP(ISO) code page 1401 is active. If the locale of your front end can also display the following languages, you can enter and output data in these languages without having to repeat steps 1 to 3:

Slovakian

Slovenian

Czech
