Object documentationConstraint

Constraints are properties of a substance or substance group which specify what the substance or substance group must be composed of to comply with certain regulations.

You use the compliance check from Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) to check whether a substance, for example, the primary output of a formula or recipe, complies with all constraints in all components.

Structure

You define constraints as classes in the system. For more information, see the Start of the navigation path Environment, Health and Safety Implementation Guide (IMG) under Next navigation step Basic Data and Tools Next navigation step Compliance Check End of the navigation path.

The following constraint types are available in the Recipe Management (PLM-RM) standard system for the compliance check:

  • Substance excluded

A product is not allowed to contain this substance.

  • Restricted

The concentration of a substance in a product is not allowed to exceed a certain limit value. The system calculates the total concentration of all instances of the substance in the composition.

  • Required

A certain concentration of the substance must be present in the product. If the concentration exceeds a certain level, this must be stated on the label, for example, "Contains aspartame".

  • You can also define more constraint types, for example, to check the density of cosmetic products.

Depending on the constraint type, you can define more possible properties of the constraints as characteristics for the relevant value assignment type.

These properties include:

  • Authority or legislation from which the regulation originates

  • Limit value for constraint types with a minimum or maximum quantity

  • Compliance statement that is to be output in the result of the check if the constraint is complied with or if it is not complied with, for example, "Not suitable for consumption" or "Kosher".

  • Other filter criteria, such as country or product group, for example, "Germany" or "Food".
