Features

Appraisal template

In Customizing, administrators can use enhanced and improved settings to structure the appraisal template more clearly, thus optimizing the use of appraisal documents in the enterprise for all of the roles involved (Manager, Talent Management Specialist, Employee). The settings include:

  • Sliders in the appraisal template

You can decide to use sliders as display elements in the template, which means that selectable values in the appraisal document (for example, an overall appraisal on a scale of 1 to 6) are shown as a sliding bar graphic. The color of the slider changes depending on the value selected so users can immediately understand the displayed values.

For more information, see Columns Tab.

  • Layout for the appraisal template

You can use the following layout configurations for the appraisal template and make them available in the appraisal document:

    • Row layout

The columns of the appraisal element are listed in the appraisal document vertically.

      Advantages:

      • You can display the template structure clearly from top to bottom.

      • You can avoid horizontal scrolling.

      • You can hide the components (for example, description, content, or columns) of a criterion (for example, goal or qualification) and make the document look more compact.

      • You can permanently display note fields in their expanded for (useful for larger amounts of text).

You can use the following functions:

      • Collapsible Appraisal Elements

You can display collapsible appraisal elements in the document and determine whether these appraisal elements are displayed in their expanded form.

      • Always Show Final Appraisal

If you use collapsible appraisal elements as well as the Final Appraisal and Weightingcolumns in the document, you can determine that the final appraisal and weighting are always visible in the document.

      • New Block

In the document, <ou can display appraisal elements in blocks and group criteria in these blocks. This simplifies the document structure.

      • Expanded

You can determine whether the collapsible appraisal elements in the document are displayed in their expanded form by default.

    • Column layout

The columns of the appraisal element are listed in the appraisal document horizontally.

      Advantages:

      • You can compare values for a criterion more easily since the values are shown vertically in a column or horizontally in a row.

        Example Example

You can see the evaluations for a criterion (such as employee performance) from each part appraiser at a glance

        End of the example.
      • You have less vertical scrolling compared to row layout.

      • You can display more information at once.

      • You can make the document look more compact by hiding notes and descriptions.

You can use the following function:

      • New Block

In the document, <ou can display appraisal elements in blocks and group criteria in these blocks. This way, you avoid unnecessary empty spaces in the document.

For more information, see Appraisal Document.

Appraisal Document
  • Additional functions in the appraisal document

    • Row layout

The following function is available to you in the appraisal document:

You can enlarge the note fields to display more text.

      • Column layout

The following functions are available to you in the appraisal document:

        • You can enlarge the note fields to display more text.

        • You can expand and collapse the note fields.

        • You can expand and collapse the descriptions (for example, goal descriptions).

    Note Note

No Customizing settings are required for these functions.

    End of the note.
    • Dynamic structure of the user interface for the appraisal document

You can make custom modifications to the document's user interface more quickly and easily because the technical structure for the document's user interface is made dynamically in the code.

Calibration Process in Performance Management and Talent Management

You can implement a cross-functional calibration process for assessing employees and use the integration of the flexible appraisal process with Talent Managment if the business function HCM, Core Processes in Talent Management 03 (HCM_TMC_CI_3) is active.

The appraisal documents are available to managers and talent management specialists in the flexible appraisal process and in Talent Management. Managers can prepare and edit the documents for the relevant employees, thus evaluating the employees' performance. Afterwards, managers set the status of the document to In Talent Review Meeting, which sends the appraisals to the talent review meeting. Documents with the status In Talent Review Meeting are locked so that managers cannot edit them anymore. In the talent review meeting, performance assessments and potential assessments from multiple managers are calibrated. The results of the talent review meeting are transferred back to the employees' documents and are available to managers in subsequent steps of the appraisal process.

For more information, see Calibration Process for the Assessment of Employees.

    Note Note

You can use this cross-functional calibration process as an alternative to the application Calibration of Appraisal Documents in the Business Server Page technology (BSP).

    End of the note.
