Inconsistencies in Multiple ClassificationLocate this document in the navigation structure

If a characteristic has different allowed values in different classes, and you classify a class or object in more than one class, there may be inconsistencies:

When you assign class CL2 to class CL1, you restrict the allowed values for characteristic C1 to 10-20. Then you assign class CL2 to class CL3, which also has characteristic C1. In class CL3, however, the characteristic has allowed values 17-30.

The system calculates the allowed values as a subset of the allowed values in the two classes. When you assign CL2 to CL3, you see an inconsistency message, because the values 10-16 for the assignment of CL2 to CL1 are outside the allowed values for CL3.

After the assignment of CL2 to CL3, the system automatically updates the allowed values for the assignment of CL2 to CL1.
