You can return parts only within a certain time frame. The start date and the end date are transferred from SAP CRM to the returns delivery in SAP ECC and from SAP ICH to SAP EWM. The dates are visible in the returns delivery, in the SAP ICH portal, and in SAP EWM. After the end date, the customer cannot send any advance shipment notifications (ASNs) from SAP ICH. If the goods arrive a few days earlier, the start date can be manually checked in SAP EWM.

If at the end of this time frame, the returns process is not yet finished (because, for example, the entire requested quantity was not yet returned) SAP EWM can close the returns process by canceling (rejecting) the open documents in the document chain between SAP CRM, SPM, and SAP EWM. If the returns deliveries have not yet been distributed to SAP EWM, closing is also possible from SAP ECC through the /SPE/RET_WRONG_ASN_MONTR report.
