With this function, you set a released document template to historical, that is, you assign it the status
Historical
(HI). This allows you to indicate that a template is no longer in use without having to delete it.
Caution
Assigning the status
Historical
is final, that is, you cannot edit a historical document template again.
When you release a template, you can decide whether all previous versions of the template are set to historical automatically.
The following prerequisites must be fulfilled before you can set a template to historical:
The template is not included in any other templates.
The template is not used in a generation variant.
The template is not used as a cover-sheet template or acknowledgement-of-receipt template, that is, it is not entered in Customizing for
Product Safety

The template has the status
Released
(RE).
You can no longer edit historical document templates.
You can no longer use historical document templates for report generation. The system therefore does not list historical templates in the input help when you are editing generation variants.
