Function documentationDisplay of Characteristics in Enhanced List Editing

This function enables you to use the enhanced display of characteristics for classified materials, task lists, notifications, and technical objects in various single-level PM lists. You can also display the characteristics in UII lists, serial number lists, and fleet equipment lists.

Prerequisites

You have activated the business function Enterprise Asset Management Part 6 (LOG_EAM_CI_6) and, if required, the Customizing parameter Displaying Characteristics in Additional PM Lists (PM117_ADD).

For more information about the prerequisites, see Enhanced List Editing with Characteristics.

Features

Once you have called list editing and made your selection, the system displays the information for the selected objects in a list. The characteristics are not shown at first.

Displaying characteristics after selecting a class

To display the characteristics and characteristic values for classified materials and objects, select the objects and choose Start of the navigation path Settings Next navigation step Show/Hide Classification End of the navigation path. If the selected materials and objects are assigned to more than one class, a dialog box appears in which you can choose which classes should be used for displaying the characteristics.

  • If you select just one class, the system displays the characteristics assigned to it as follows:

    • According to a user-specific layout

If you have defined a user-specific layout using the naming convention Zinternal class number, the system displays the characteristics according to your layout.

    • According to a class-specific layout

If you have not defined a user-specific layout, but there is a standard layout for the selected class in the master data (transaction CL02), the system displays the characteristics according to this class-specific layout (with the naming convention /internal class number).

    • According to a standard layout

If neither a user-specific layout nor a class-specific layout exists, the characteristics are displayed according to a standard layout generated by the system with the naming convention /internal class number. The system updates this standard layout each time a class is selected.

  • If you select more than one class and have not defined a user-specific layout as the default layout, the system displays the characteristics that have the most characteristic values.

For more information about defining layouts, see Definition of Layouts with Characteristics.

Special Features and Constraints
  • A maximum of 20 characteristics can be displayed in the list, each in its own column.

  • If you select more than one class, only characteristics with at least one characteristic value are displayed in the list.

  • If a characteristic is assigned to various classes, the system displays this characteristic in as many different columns.

  • For characteristics with multiple values, the system generates one table row per characteristic value so that all of them are displayed.

Specifying which characteristics are displayed

After selecting the classes, you can change which characteristics are displayed by choosing the Layout for Characteristics pushbutton.

If you select the Change and Save Layout radio button, the system shows you all the characteristics that are assigned to the selected classes. You can specify which characteristics of these classes you want the system to display in the list.
