Procedure documentationCreating Product Views

You use product views to access a level of the product structure. Product views provide various perspectives of a product structure, and you can use them to set up a multilevel chart of hierarchical relationships to other product views or product items.

Prerequisites

You have at least one of the following authorizations:

Procedure

  1. On the Create Product Structure / Node screen, under Node Type, enter Product View.

  2. In Node, enter the name of the new product view.

  3. Choose Start.

  4. On the Create Product Structure screen, choose Save.

Example

Procedure

To create a product view for the frame components of a mountain bike, navigate to the Create Product Structure / Node screen, and follow these steps:

  1. Under Node Type, enter Product View.

  2. In Node, enter Frame_Components.

  3. Choose Start, and then save on the next screen.

  4. To attach this product view to an existing product family (Mountain_Bike), choose Where Used, and under the Node column, enter Mountain_Bike. Under the Class column, enter Class_BikeX ; and then save. For more information, see Creating Product Families.

  5. To attach an existing product item (ATB_Frame) to this product view, choose Components, and under the Node column, enter ATB_Frame; and then save the changes.

    Note Note

It is not necessary that only existing product items can be attached to the product view. You can also create new product items in this table. You can subsequently attach each of these new product items to the product family Mountain_Bike. For more information, see Creating Product Items.

    End of the note.

Result

The product view Frame_Components is created and is then attached to the product family Mountain_Bike; and finally the product item ATB_Frame is attached to this product view.
