The responsible HR staff uses this process to submit a promotion request for a selected candidate to the authorized manager, and proposes the changes in master data resulting from this promotion. The authorized manager can review the proposal from HR, and makes decision to approve the promotion or reject it.

Prerequisites

  • To be able to use this sample process for test purposes, you must have made settings in Customizing for Personnel Management, under Start of the navigation path HR Administrative Services Next navigation step Configuration of Forms/Processes Next navigation step Sample Process for HCM Processes and Forms End of the navigation path.

  • You have defined the possible promotion conditions and rules in Customizing for Payroll Qatar, under Start of the navigation path Public Sector Next navigation step Promotion Next navigation step Define Promotion Conditions and Promotion Rules End of the navigation path.

  • You have assigned the promotion rules to jobs in the Relationships (1005) infotype. The relevant relationship is A035.

Process

  1. The HR staff starts the process and selects an employee.

  2. The HR staff fills out the form S_HRPA_QA_PROMOTION with general information about promotion, such as promotion reasons and the new position for the employee; then the HR staff sends out the form.

  3. The system displays the organizational hierarchy and the pay grade information of the new position. The HR staff fills out the basic pay and allowances in the form S_HRPA_QA_PROMOTION_REVIEW, and sends it out.

  4. The authorized manager is notified of this application request. The manager can approve or reject the request.

Result

The HR staff receives the decision from the authorized manager, and takes the corresponding action in the back-end system accordingly:

  • Approval: The HR staff carries out the personnel action Promotion (PBS) to change the selected employee's basic pay, pay grade and allowances as proposed in the form S_HRPA_QA_PROMOTION_REVIEW.

  • Rejection: The HR staff does not do anything in the back-end system.
