Function documentationTalent Group Nomination Through Talent Review Meetings

With this function, talents are nominated for talent groups automatically based on their classification in the boxes of the calibration grid for a talent review meeting.

Prerequisites

  • An active implementationis available for the Business Add-In (BAdI) Activities When Approving Talents in the Calibration Grid (HRTMC_B_RM_CONFIRM_ACTIVITIES).

In the standard SAP system, the BAdI implementation Assignment to Talent Groups (HRTMC_RM_CA_TG_ASSIGNMENT) is active. For more information, see Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development and choose Start of the navigation path Talent Review Meeting Next navigation step Business Add-Ins (BAdIs) Next navigation step BAdI: Activities When Approving Talents in the Calibration Grid End of the navigation path.

  • The talent management specialist has created talent groups.

For more information, see Talent Group.

  • Talent groups are assigned to the calibration grid used in the talent review meeting.

These are not Customizing entries that can be transported to other systems. Therefore, from the SAP Easy Access screen in the system of your choice, choose Start of the navigation path Human Resources Next navigation step Personnel Management Next navigation step Talent Management Next navigation step Settings Next navigation step Assign Talent Groups to the Boxes of the Calibration Grid End of the navigation path.

The standard SAP system does not comprise any calibration grids with assigned talent groups.

  • On the Planning tab, the talent management specialist has selected a type of talent review meeting that comprises a calibration grid with assigned talent groups.

Features

  • You can adapt the talent group nomination through talent review meetings to suit your requirements.

To do so, create a corresponding implementation of the BAdI HRTMC_B_RM_CONFIRM_ACTIVITIES.

    Example Example

The standard SAP system enters the current processor of the talent review meeting in which the nomination was made as the approver of the assignment. This is either the talent management specialist or a member of the support team. You can enter a different approver instead.

    End of the example.
  • When the talent management expert approves the assignment of talents to a box of the calibration grid, the system assigns these talents with the status Nominated to the talent group defined for this box.

  • If multiple talent groups are defined for the grid box, the system assigns the talents to all of these talent groups.

  • When the talent management specialist performs one of the following activities, the system restores the previous status for the relevant talents:

    • Withdraw approval of the assignment to boxes of the calibration grid

    • Move talents in the calibration grid

    • Remove talents from the talent review meeting

    • Withdraw or delete talent review meeting

In doing so, it deletes the talent group nominations that were made by the talent review meeting concerned. If previous existing nominations were delimited as a result of the talent review meeting, the system restores these assignments.

  • If another talent group nomination is made for a talent in a different talent review meeting, the system also creates this nomination.

  • If a different talent group nomination is made for a talent in another talent review meeting with a higher level, and the original talent group in the talent review meeting with the higher level is also assigned to a box of the calibration grid, the system delimits the nomination from the talent review meeting with the lower level.

For more information, see Example: Different Talent Group Nominations for the Same Talent in Multiple Talent Review Meetings.

    Note Note

Talent group nominations that were made by the managers of the talents discussed in the talent review meeting are not delimited.

    End of the note.
  • On the Follow-Up tab of the talent review meeting, you can change, approve, or reject the talent group nominations. This affects the following talent group nominations:

    • Nominations that have been made previously by the managers of the talents discussed in the talent review meeting

    • Nominations that were made in the talent review meeting

For more information, see Follow-Up Activities for Talent Group Nominations.

  • If errors occur during the talent group nomination, the system writes this to the application log. The Follow-Up tab contains a link to the application log.

  • In the standard SAP system, the Talent Group application and the short profile within the talent review meeting show the talent management specialist all talent group assignments:

    • Assignments that the managers of the talents have suggested

    • Assignments that were made as a result of talent review meetings

For other Talent Management applications you can also specify that talent group assignments are to be displayed there. To do so, in Customizing for Talent Management and Talent Development, make the settings under Start of the navigation path Adjusting the User Interfaces Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Configurations for Data Retrieval End of the navigation path.
