Use

A geometry is pure geo location data represented by point, line or polygon. A geometry context gives an additional meaning to a geometry. The context identifies what kind of geometry it is when it cannot be identified by any attributes of the business object itself. For example, a point geometry on the map indicates an organization which is a Business Partner in the SAP system. We can have several kinds of geometries for this organization. An example is a point geometry with the context “Headquarter”. If we need to show other locations for the same organization, we might create other point geometries with the context “subsidiary”.

You need to maintain all geometry contexts first using this node, to allow these geometry contexts to be available for use by a business object. A default geometry context X is delivered with this Customizing.

Here are some examples of geometry contexts:

  • Headquarter: Shows geometries of business partners with geometry context Headquarter.
  • Service area: Shows geometries of business partners with geometry context Service Area.
  • Default Location: Shows geometries of business partners with geometry context Default Location.
