Function documentationCreation and Cascading of Team Goals

Managers can use this Web application to edit team goals in the predefined Performance Management process as well as in the flexible appraisal process.

Example Example

Managers create team goals and cascade them to employees.

End of the example.

Prerequisites

If you want to set the validity period for the team goals before the process starts, the Business Add-In Set and Check Validity Period for Goals is available with the following methods:

  • Method: PERIOD_DEFAULTING

You use this method to set default values for the validity period (from – to).

For example from January 1 to December 31 of the current year

  • Method: PERIOD_CHECKING

You use this method to check the validity period entered. If necessary, you can return an error message if, for example, a validity period of more than 12 months has been entered.

  • Method: PERIOD_VISIBILITY

You use this method to determine whether the validity period is input-ready for the user. If you do not want this, then you must implement the PERIOD_DEFAULTING method.

You can use the PROCESS filter to set a different validity period, for example, so that the goals in the flexible appraisal process have a different validity period from those in the predefined Performance Management process.

Features

Managers can enter the following both before the start of the process as well as over the course of the year:

  • Edit team goals

    • Create a new goal

The information you can enter includes but is not limited to:

      • Title

      • Description

      • KPI

For the rating, enter the key performance indicator (KPI) that you want to use to measure goal achievement.

    • Release goal rating

You can release the goal rating after the goal has been cascaded to the relevent people.

    • Apply existing goal

You can use an already existing individual goal as a template and copy it over as a team goal into the appraisal document.

    • Delete goal

You can remove uncascaded goals from the system.

  • Cascade team goals

You can cascade the goal to relevant people, such as employees or subordinate managers. The following options are available for cascading team goals:

    • Direct reports

    • Organizational unit structure

You can select individual employees or all employees in an organizational unit.

    • Employee structure

Once a goal is created, you can cascade it to people under Cascade Goal and, in doing so, copy the employee documents (appraisal documents for employees).

    Note Note

Team goals that have already been cascaded cannot be changed.

    End of the note.
  • Set goal as obsolete

You can set a cascaded goal to obsolete. An obsolete goal is no longer available in the appraisal process. For consistency, it remains in the system.

  • You can rate team goals and then release them.

  • The SAP system copies the team goals into the employee documents.

In the appraisal document, employees see the team goals assigned to them.
