  Export: Process

Purpose

This process describes the export of sources, phrases, specification data, property trees, and report templates.

Prerequisites

  • You have specified the settings in the Import and Export IMG section in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools .

  • You have checked the environment parameter EXPORT_CHARACTER_NORM in the IMG activity Specify Environment Parameters (see Character Standard ).

  • You have authorization for export.

  • You have write authorization for the transfer files.

Process Flow

  1. After you have selected the objects to be exported, check the export parameters.

    Note Note

    When importing specifications, phrases, and sources, you can enter an exchange profile for which the export parameters have already been defined.

    You define exchange profiles in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools under Specify Exchange Profiles .

  2. You start export and the SAP system runs it in the background.

Result

  • You can check the export job as follows:

    1. a.In the Basic Data and Tools menu , choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Export Log End of the navigation path and then the respective function.

    2. b. Position the cursor on your job and choose Job log.

    3. c. If necessary, you can display the long text for a message by choosing Long text.

  • If the export is successful, the data is created in transfer format in the transfer directory on the application server. The export format of the data corresponds to the syntax required by the import program.

  • You can copy this file to your PC: In the Basic Data and Tools menu , choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Data Transfer Next navigation step Download File.
