 Monitoring and Updating of an Individual Development Plan

Purpose

The individual development plan of an employee is monitored and updated at regular intervals (or when there is cause to do so). This might be done solely by the employee's supervisor, or together with the employee in question.

The following are monitored:

  • All of the personnel development activities

  • The success of any activities completed to date

  • Development goals and objectives

A decision is made concerning whether the development plan should be modified, or remain unchanged. Possible situations where a development plan can be changed:

  • If the status of a development activity has to be changed because a planned activity is now to be performed, or the employee has completed an activity

  • If the development goals and objectives have changed, and development activities are deleted from or added to the individual development plan

Prerequisites

An individual development plan must be in process for the employee.

Process Flow

  1. Obtain information on the employee whose development plan you want to monitor.

  3. Obtain information on the individual development plan and any development activities that have already been performed.

  1. Find out about any relevant company-specific conditions.

  2. On the basis of the information you have collected, make a decision regarding the status of an activity, or modify the individual development plan.

The individual development plan has been monitored.
