Quality Control of Goods Receipt: Preliminary Check in Production

In an EWM system (SAP Extended Warehouse Management), you can perform quality controls for deliveries from external procurement or for deliveries from internal production through production orders or process orders before goods receipt:

  • Acceptance sampling inspection in external procurement

If you want to perform an inspection for deliveries from procurement, the prerequisites described in Quality Control of Goods Receipt in an EWM System apply.

  • Preliminary check in production

In the EWM system, you can already generate inspection documents when the production order or manufacturing order is released and not only upon delivery from production.

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites apply for a preliminary inspection for deliveries from production orders or process orders:

  • The EWM system is connected to Quality Management in SAP ERP via the QIE (Quality Inspection Engine).

  • There is an EWM-managed warehouse in the ERP system to which the quality inspection processes refer.

  • You have made the settings for transferring the relevant data from the production order or process order to an EWM system in Customizing for the ERP system under Start of the navigation path Environment Next navigation step Tools Next navigation step Communication with Quality Inspection Engines Next navigation step Activation of BTE Application for Transferring Manufacturing Order Data End of the navigation path.

Features

If you have made the Customizing setting, inspection planning is performed in the EWM system when the order is released. Inspection planning is called up with the order data using the report RQBPPEXT. In the EWM system, corresponding inspection rules are determined for the transferred order data, from which it is derived whether an inspection is to take place. If an inspection is relevant, a corresponding inspection document is created in the EWM system.

The report is only relevant to materials with an active inspection type with the origin 17 (inspection from external systems).

You need to trigger the report once to provide the data of existing manufacturing orders in the EWM system. In the case of the following changes, the report is called automatically to make the information available in the EWM system:

  • Release of a production order or process order

  • The setting of a deletion indicator for a corresponding order

  • In the case of a released order: If the fields Batch, Total Quantity, Assignments to Sales Order or WBS Element, Inbound Delivery Exists, Stock Exists have been changed
