Use

You can search for classified objects by using the class type, as well as the class. Using a class type to search is useful if the object you are looking for could be classified in one of several classes.

Note

You can only use this search for objects. For information on finding classes, see Finding Initial Classes .

Prerequisites

Classes have been created and objects have been assigned to these classes.

Features

A search by class type has the same function as searching by class.

If you want to define User Settings for finding objects, choose Start of the navigation path Extras  Next navigation step User settings. End of the navigation path

Activities
  1. From the classification menu, choose Start of the navigation path Find Next navigation step Find Objects in Class Type. End of the navigation path

  2. On the Select chars tab, enter the characteristics you need to describe the objects you are searching for.

  3. For information on assigning values to characteristics, see Value Assignment Functions .

  4. On the Selection criteria tab, you can use the F4 help to select values.

  5. If you have defined default values, you can get these values for all characteristics or selected characteristics by choosing Start of the navigation path Value assignment  Next navigation step Default values. End of the navigation path For information on setting default values, see Defining How Default Values Work .

    You can display the predefined templates and your own templates for the different data types by placing the cursor on the characteristic and choosing Start of the navigation path Value assignment  Next navigation step Propose template. End of the navigation path

  6. To start the object search, choose Find in class type.
