Object documentationCorrespondence Containers

The correspondence container is a temporary storage location in which correspondence data and control parameters for output are stored temporarily.

The correspondence tool saves the data and control parameters needed for creating a correspondence request in an abstract form in a correspondence container. The correspondence container can include data from different correspondence. When correspondence is output, the system accesses the data and control parameters saved in the correspondence container.

Structure

Correspondence requests are stored in the following database tables.

There is a correspondence header and a correspondence history for each correspondence request. The correspondence history records the last processing step of the correspondence request and documents the processing steps as change documents.

Correspondence data or correspondence cluster data is created only at the request of the application. You should store additional data only in the correspondence cluster data. The system displays correspondence data in the correspondence header in the XCODT field and it displays correspondence cluster data in the XCODT_CLUST field.

The table containing the SAP ArchiveLink Object IDs is maintained only if these requirements are met: You activated optical archiving for the correspondence type in Customizing, and there is information, other than standard information, to be saved. The correspondence key – a GUID – uniquely identifies each correspondence request. In several of the database tables listed above, however, the correspondence type is also contained in the key.
