Areas on the Web User InterfaceLocate this document in the navigation structure

The Web user interface (Web UI) of the object navigator is divided into the following areas:

  • Extended identification region

This area contains the breadcrumb trail (see Breadcrumb Trail), ID, short description, and, depending on the object type, further identifying attributes for the object.

  • Context-based navigation area

This area contains the functions (see Functions of the Object Navigator on the Web User Interface) that you can perform for the central object, as well as the tab page for general details and the tab pages for relationships. (See View Area).

  • Message area

In the message area, the system displays messages that are generated when you run actions.

  • View Area

This area contains a list of objects in table form, which relate to the central object, and their attributes. The data is presented in view layouts, which are made up of views.

    • View layout

A view layout contains all views, that you have defined for an object type in object navigator Customizing. For each view layout, you define which view is the default view. The maximum number of possible views for an object type can be restricted at runtime based on authorizations. If, in such a case, you exclude the defined default view, the General tab page for general details becomes the default view.

    • View

A view is part of a view layout and contains a list of objects. These objects are part of the relationships that are relevant for the view. You can define views in Customizing for the object navigator by specifying the relevant relationships for a view. You can control whether individual views, which can be chosen as tab pages on the UI, are displayed for different user roles.

    Note

The General tab page for general details (see Tab Page for General Details) in the view area contains a preview of the central object and is always available. You can configure the tab pages for relationships (see Tab Page for Relationships) in Customizing for the object navigator.

    • Side Panel

If the side panel is active, you can display additional contextual information for the selected object, but no detailed data.
