Undoing Changes Locate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You can use this function to undo changes to classification objects that have been made and saved with reference to a change number.

Note

Use this function in exceptional circumstances only, in case of incorrect changes. There is no guarantee that consistent change states will exist on the database after undoing changes. For this reason, check the change states of the objects.

Prerequisites

You have the authorization to execute the transaction (authorization object C_UNDOSpecial Authorization for Transaction CLUNDO).

Key Features

You can undo change states of different object types for a selected change number. There are interdependencies between these object types. For this reason, keep to the following sequence of object types when selecting objects:

  1. Classification

  2. Characteristics of class

  3. Characteristics

In addition, you can undo changes to variant tables. Since these are not interdependent on other object types, there is no restriction as to where in the sequence you select variant tables.

Activities

Select Change Number

Start transaction CLUNDO (Undo Functions for Classification) and select the change number whose change states you want to delete.

Check Change Objects

The system determines all classification change objects that have a change state referring to the selected change number. These objects are displayed as a hierarchical list in the form of a structure tree on the Classification Change Objects screen.

The top node gives you information about the object structure. It contains the object (for example, characteristic). Beneath that, the individual change objects are listed with their descriptions, for example characteristics COLOR and SIZE.

  • Logically deleted objects are displayed with the inactive icon.

  • Changed objects are displayed with the active icon.

Starting the Undo Function

Use the checkboxes in the object list to select the objects whose change statuses you want to delete for the selected change number. Make sure to take account of the interdependencies between object types.

After selecting the objects, choose Undo. Confirm the confirmation prompt. The change statuses for this change number are deleted for the selected objects.

Note

The deletion transaction is logged. The log contains information such as when data was deleted and by which user. To call the log, choose History on the Classification Change Objects screen.

Limitations

If there are still interdependencies between data states, deletion of the master data record is not allowed and the undo must be terminated.

The system does not check the sequence of change numbers. For this reason, inconsistencies may arise due to the interdependencies between changes with different change numbers.

There is no guarantee that you will revert to the original status after undoing a change.
