View Layout for Product StructureLocate this document in the navigation structure

In the standard system, we provide a General view that displays basic information about the product structure. We also provide the following further views, which display related objects for the product structure (product family, product item, product view) or the variant (product variant or product item variant):

Note
  • In product variants and product item variants you can navigate to Linked Synchronizations PSM to BOM. The system displays the synchronization units that use this assembly header as source structure.

You can also navigate to Linked Engineering Record. This displays all engineering records used or reserved to modify the product variants and product item variants.

  • Structure

This displays the default relations of objects, including all available subordinate objects, at maximum explosion. For a product family, the Structure view contains relations to product views, product items, product variants, product item variants, assembly items, and material BOMs. To support the coexistence of integrated Product and Process Engineering (iPPE) and BOMs, the object navigator displays material BOMs attached to product item variants or assembly items from the common material master assignment.

  • Variants

When you display a product family, this view is called the Product Variants view. When you display a product item, this view is called the Product Item Variants view. This displays variants with all historical states attached to the object. If the object is a product family, all historical instances of the product variants are displayed. If the object is a product item, all historical instances of the product item variants attached to the object are displayed.

  • Where-Used List

This displays the structures where the object is used. A product family is not included in this list because it is a root object. This view displays product families or product views.

    • If the central object is a product view, thewhere-used-list displays the immediate parent, which can be a product family or a product view.

    • If the central object is a product item, the where-used-list displays the immediate parent, which can be a product view or a product item.

    • If the central object is a product item variant, the where-used-list displays the immediate parent, which is the product item variant.

    • If the central object is a product variant, the where-used-list displays the immediate parent, which is the product family.

  • Linked Documents

This displays all documents assigned to the object.

  • Used / Reserved Change Numbers

This displays all change numbers used or reserved to modify the product variants or product item variants.

  • Access Control Context

This displays the access control contexts to which the object belongs. You can also see whether the context is an owning context or a compound context.

  • Transferable Objects

When you display a product family, this view is called the Transferable Product Family Objects view. When you display a product item, this view is called the Transferable Product Item Objects view. Similarly, the product variant and product item variant display the Transferable Product Variant Objects view and the Transferable Product Item Variant Objects view respectively. This displays a consolidation of the relevant information from all the other views. This view displays the product structure objects that can be transferred to other contexts. For more information, see Setting of Transfer Options. You can use this view for the multiple selection of objects to be added to the transfer list.

Note

In the navigator settings for a product structure as central object you can select linked objects of the following object types to display:

  • Product structures and assemblies

  • Product structures and assemblies with material BOM

For more information, see Settings for the Object Navigator.
