Definition

The remanufacturer is an employee in an external organization who remanufactures used parts.

The remanufacturing organization buys the used parts from logistics consolidators or other logistics relevant intermediate locations and inspects the quality of the purchased parts. The result of such a quality inspection defines the amount the logistics consolidator receives for the returned parts.

For more information about the individual tasks, see Service Parts Remanufacturing .

The remanufacturer’s tasks include:

  • Receiving and collecting used parts

  • Inspecting the quality of the used parts (quality inspection)

  • Checking the stock level

Integration

This role is integrated into the overall functions of returns logistics scenarios involving SAP CRM, the ERP system and SAP SCM. The dealer makes a request for returns using SAP CRM; these requests are authorized by SAP CRM and dispatched to SAP SCM through the ERP system. The delivery location authorized by SAP CRM could be a consolidator location, or a remanufacturer’s location.

This role has a useful business meaning when used in combination with the SAP CRM Customer and Consolidator roles.
