Use

You use this function to access Business Context Viewer (BCV) content without implementing the BCV side panel or BCV dashboard into your application. You can select dashboards, query views, and snapshots from the BCV Cockpit screen. You can also open selected query views or snapshots in the Preview panel.

The cockpit is configurable by personalization. You can display the properties of each object as well as start the specific configuration UI of the cockpit object.

Starting the cockpit for the first time, no context key is applied. The popup with the context key selection will be displayed. You have to mark at least one of the listed context keys. This selection as well as all other settings made using the cockpit page personalization icon will be stored and applied automatically when the cockpit is started again.

The cockpit contains three default CHIPs, which are re-used from the application side panel:

  • Favorite Query Views

  • Favorite Dashboards

  • Favorite Snapshots

The favorite list is dependent on the current context key. In the side panel, the list of favorites are displayed for only one context key. In the cockpit, more than one context key may be applied. In this case, each context key builds a node, which contains all favorite objects of this context key.

Note

The favorite list only shows the objects marked as favorite for the current user. When you choose the object name, the object is executed directly, without using input values from the application context (such as testing functionality in the configuration center). If you select a default variant, these input values are applied.

You can open the context menu when you right click on an object. The context menu provides the following functions:

  • Open: Open an object directly without input values or using the default variant

  • Open With Variant : Display a list of variants. You select one for execution.

  • Preview: Displays the selected object in the Preview BCV Query View or Snapshot panel

  • Create Variant: Create a new variant. Enter the variant details, if required, and save. You must then add a description, with the option to set the variant as default or private.

  • Edit Variant: Update, copy, or delete a variant

  • Move Up: Move up the current object within the list of objects of the current context key

  • Move Down: Move down the current object within the list of objects of the current context key

  • Sort By Name: Reset to standard sorting

  • Remove: Remove the object from the panel

  • Properties: Display a popup with the administrative data of the object and a link to open a new session with the configuration maintenance screen of the current object

Note

All sorting changes are applied not only in the cockpit, but also in the side panel. Each cockpit CHIP provides its own search function with appropriate input fields and a result list with executable objects. Within the result list of the search, each object can be executed or added to the favorite list using the item context menu.
