 Consolidator (com.sap.pct.spm.consolidator)

Definition

The consolidator is an employee in an external organization who consolidates used parts sent by dealers for remanufacturing.

The logistics consolidator receives return parts from dealers, other logistics consolidators, and logistics-relevant intermediate locations. The logistics consolidator performs quality checks on the received parts and submits quality inspection results on the consolidator portal. As triggered by the manufacturer, the logistics consolidator forwards goods to other logistics relevant intermediate locations.

For more information about the individual tasks, see Service Parts Consolidation .

The consolidator’s tasks include:

  • Receiving and collecting used parts

  • Inspecting the quality of the used parts (quality inspection)

  • Forwarding used parts to the next location (other consolidator or remanufacturer)

Integration

This role is integrated into the overall functions of returns logistics scenarios involving SAP CRM, the ERP system, and SAP SCM. The dealer makes a request for returns in SAP CRM; these requests are authorized by SAP CRM and are dispatched to SAP SCM through the ERP system. The delivery location authorized by SAP CRM could be a consolidator location, which is why the consolidator role is necessary.

The Consolidator is an independent role, but has a useful business meaning when used with the SAP CRM Customer and Dealer roles.
