 Administration and Monitoring

Use

To monitor the queues that you need for Service Parts Management (SPM), you use the basic functions provided by the Computing Center Management System (CCMS) with SPM-specific templates. You use the SPM-specific templates to define:

Queues that you want to monitor

Alerts that you want to define for your queues

Prerequisites

You must define the systems with which the ERP system communicates. To do this, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Tools CCMS Configuration Attributes and Methods . On the Monitoring: Properties and Methods screen, choose Technical infrastructure Configure Central System Maintain system groups

For SAP CRM, you must enter the system group CRM_REMOTE_SYSTEM.

For SAP EWM, you must enter the system group EWM_REMOTE_SYSTEMS.

For more information, see System Groups in the Alert Monitor .

Features

Queues

You use the Alert Monitor in CCMS to monitor the transfer of data between:

The ERP system and CRM Middleware

Between the ERP system and SAP EWM

In the standard system, there is a CCMS monitor set that contains templates for SPM.

You use the SAP APO Core Interface (CIF) in the CIF cockpit to monitor data that you transfer between the ERP system and SAP APO.

For more information about this tool, see SAP Library for SAP Supply Chain Management (SAP SCM) under SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO)Integration via APO Core Interface (CIF) Technical Integration SAP APO Core Interface (CIF) Administration Monitoring Data Transfer Monitoring Using the CIF Cockpit.

Queues from the ERP System to SAP CRM

The monitor set for SPM contains a CRM Middleware monitor. To access this monitor, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Tools CCMS Control/Monitoring CCMS Monitor Sets. You use the SPM monitor templates for CRM Middleware to monitor data in the outbound queues only, that is, data that you need to send to SAP CRM from the ERP system.

This monitor tracks all queues between the ERP system and SAP CRM but only those that begin with R3AU are relevant for SPM.

For more information about how to use the alert monitor, see Operating the Alert Monitor .

Queues Between the ERP System and SAP EWM

The following section assumes that you use the standard Customizing settings for queues between the ERP system and SAP EWM, that is, the queue type is defined as Inbound Queue .

The monitor set for SPM contains an EWM Communication monitor that monitors both inbound and outbound queues, both for SAP EWM and the ERP system. These queues are listed below:

Inbound Queues in EWM for Deliveries

Monitors queues sent from the ERP system and shows any errors that relate to the content of deliveries in queues to SAP EWM.

Outbound Queues in EWM for Deliveries

Monitors queues sent from SAP EWM and shows any errors when they are sent to the ERP system. The problems that arise are normally related to technical issues, such as a problem with the RFC destination.

Inbound Queues in ERP for Deliveries

Monitors queues sent from SAP EWM and shows errors that relate to the content of deliveries in queues to the ERP system.

Outbound Queues in ERP for Deliveries

Monitors queues sent from the ERP system to SAP EWM. The problems that occur are normally related to technical issues, such as a problem with the RFC destination.

Although these monitors track all queues between the ERP system and SAP EWM, not all of them are relevant for SPM. For details about the relevant queues, see SAP Note 789753.

For more information about how to use the Alert Monitor, see Operating the Alert Monitor .

Application Log for Messages to SAP CRM and SAP EWM

In addition to the standard monitoring functions delivered with CRM Middleware, you can log messages received from SAP EWM and SAP CRM using a Background RFC.

These logs provide you with detailed information about data that you send to SAP CRM and SAP EWM. The data in the queue monitors, however, only shows you if the data in the queues results in an error when you send data or receive data. The application logs, on the other hand, allow you to see exactly which data was sent, when, and by whom.

For example, you send data to SAP EWM but according to SAP EWM, the data did not arrive or could not be processed. In such a scenario, you can use the application logs to find where the problem lies more quickly than if you were only to have the information from the queue monitor.

For more information about the settings to log these messages, in Customizing for Logistics Execution , choose Service Parts Management (SPM) Integrate SPM with Other Components Log Sent and Received Messages.
