Determining Sort SequencesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

When defining the output, you can set a sort sequence to display a query sorted by one or more particular fields.

The sort functions are examined in the following section using the example of Flight Connections.

Prerequisites

You have created the query G1 as shown in the section Define Single-Line Basic List.

Procedure

You want to generate a list of flight connections sorted by Point of departure, Destination, and Departure time.

You have created the query G1 as shown in the section Define Single-Line Basic List.

  1. Copy G1 and give it the name G2.

  2. To change the copy, select query G2 and click on Change.

The Creating/Changing A Query screen sequence appears.

  3. Enter a note to document the difference to G1, for example: Sorted by point of departure, Destination, and Departure time.

  4. You can select additional fields as well as the field groups and fields that were already selected. The fields that have already been selected suffice for the directory however.

  5. To display the Basic List screen sequence, click on Basic list.

In the Basic List Line Structure screen, set the sort sequence by entering it next to the corresponding fields (From city: 1, Destination: 2, Departure Time: 3) in the Sort column.

  6. Execute the query.

After entering your criteria in the selection screen, the sorted list is displayed.
